A dental implant is an ideal tooth restoration for those who are missing one or more teeth. The dental implant is an artificial tooth. The first stage is completed by placing a man-made tooth root under the gums. After 1-4 months of healing, the replacement tooth, or crown, is anchored to the implant.
Implants provide superior benefits to other tooth replacement options. To receive implants, you need to have healthy gums and adequate bone to support the implant. Occasionally, additional bone is needed to help support the implant for better success. You must also be committed to good oral hygiene and regular dental visits, as these are critical to the long-term success of dental implants.
Fixed Hybrid Implant Denture
A hybrid bridge/denture is a non-removable solution to replacing all of the teeth on the upper jaw, the lower jaw, or both. It can be performed whether the teeth are present or have been previously removed. They look beautiful and feel great. Most patients have about 90% function or better when compared to natural, healthy teeth. Dr. Austin Westover is the only certified Hybridge ® dentist in the Winchester area. In all but the most extreme cases, the entire procedure can be performed in our office. Most patients are thrilled with this treatment.
This acrylic denture has silicone housings that snap onto between 2-6 implants. It needs to be removed at night for proper hygiene. It has excellent retention and does not move around while chewing or speaking. It is stable enough to allow patients to chew most types of food.
Mini implants are a great solution for loose dentures. These are small posts used to stabilize a loose denture. The mini implants are placed below the gums and have small attachments that give the removable denture something to hold on to. The denture is then fitted with rubber caps that snap onto the mini implants, stabilizing the entire denture.
